Colour Psychology

Colour Psychology is a science that explains the relation between colors and cognitive behavior of humans. Colours plays very strong role to form identity for any specific space, you cannot use colours in school which are selected for night club because both spaces are having their own identity and functional requirements. You chose colours wisely when you develop a thematic experience for the users for better visual comfort.
Colour Psychology is not studied only for designing spaces; it is also highly used in marketing and advertising industry.

Colour is Light
Colour affect individual differently based upon their gender, age, culture and biological factor. You can see contradictions for the same colour in different cultures, one example is given in the picture below you can see the cultural difference of wearing white colour dress. Most of European countries bride wear white dress considered as symbol of prosperity but In India widows wear white colour.
Another example of cultural belief, which reflects the religious beliefs.

RED
Red colour makes humans to react fast and forcefully. It boosts the energy and reduces analytical thinking. Experts also say that teams wears red colors wins 10% more than the others.  It makes teams to feel more confident and aggressive. Red colour grab attention and evokes passion, love and bravery.
Sometime it is also considered that it increases appetite that is why most of food and beverage brands use red colour in their logo. 
BLUE
Blue is the colour of sky and water, which gives feeling of purity and limitlessness. It helps to create an environment of work and meditation. Blue is the colour that develops calmness and creates space pure, light and aired feeling. 

YELLOW
Yellow colour depicts Happiness, optimistic and Youth. It develops cheeriness in the space and preferred to use in drawing rooms gives welcoming feeling.


ORANGE
As orange is mixture of very strong colours red and yellow that makes it a very hyperactive colour. It represents vitality, energy and fun. It is a most visible colour in the spectrum, so it is used at the sites need high attention.
PURPLE
This colour create ambiance seems full of mystery. Darker shades resemble royalty and wealth. 
GREEN
Green is a colour symbolizes nature, health and good fortune. It is soothing to the eyes. Humans are highly familiar with this colour from the time of our ancestors.  It is a relaxing and health-enhancing colour.  It is usually preferred to use in healthcare buildings, library and living areas.
PINK
It is primarily recognized as a feminine color. This colour resembles feeling of innocence and delicateness. Generally it is used in interior by making colour combination with other colours. It is used to make space look caring, young, loving and self worth.
BLACK
This colour is having very strong impact on human psychology with the influence of authority, style, strength, evil, power and intelligence. It is popular in fashion industry because it makes people appear thinner.
WHITE
White is perceived as pure and innocent. It is associated with cleanliness .The color white to create an airy, pure, clear, serene feel.
